Aiming at the objectives of further exchanging the latest research results on the development trends of business
incubators in the region, fostering the regional business incubators networks and ultimately enhancing the
collaboration of business incubators within APEC member economies, the Forum on " Business Incubators
Promote Regional Innovation"is planned to be held in Xi`an (China) during 15 to 17 of October, 2008.
Business incubators play a vital role in stimulating the growth of technology-oriented start-ups and SMEs. Each
business incubator contributes a lot to the local innovation and technologies transfer. A strong tie among business
incubators from each region will firstly promote the info exchanges and then a consistent technology flow and a
further collaboration among SMEs in each business incubator can be catalyzed.
The forum will be held in the form of plenary meetings which will last two days. With sub themes on
1. Regional Innovation System;
2. Re-innovation of the Mechanism of Business Incubators;
3. Service Innovation & SMEs Development.
The forum plans to invite experts, incubator managers, entrepreneurs and government officials from around the
world to share and exchange the experiences and analysis on regional business incubation policies and practices.
As the winner of AABI (Asian Association of Business Incubators) Annual Incubator Award 2006, XIBI is one of the
best Bis in Asia, we expect to hold this forum in a higher level and produce more solid results. Finally and most
importantly, the close tie among business incubators in APEC member economies will be further strengthened,
with which more applicable working mechanisms will be explored and established. The APEC regional innovation,
technology flows and SMEs development will be further stimulated.
