Jacqueline B. Kessel, Head Silicon Valley Hanson Bridgett
Office focuses on
technology licensing, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate law. As an
entrepreneur and founder of a start-up company as well as an attorney,
Jacqueline is able to bring both business and legal experience in representing
her clients.A British native, Jacqueline has over 30 years of business experience
in the U.S. and abroad. She worked in international marketing and public
relations in both the U.K. and South Africa before moving to California with her
husband to start their own software technology company. Her clients feature both
Bay Area and international companies. Jacqueline represents clients in Vietnam,
China, India, Spain, Italy, England and France, among others. Jacqueline has
been profiled by her alma mater, Pepperdine University School of Law, and by
the San Jose Mercury News. In 2003, Jacqueline was named by the San Jose
Magazine as one of the Silicon Valley's Top 300 Lawyers. Honors Silicon Valley's
Top 300 Lawyers, San Jose Magazine (2003) Jacqueline holds a J.D. from
Pepperdine University School of Law.

Bill Kunz serves as a Vice President of Sand Hill Angels and is also Managing
Partner of Mindful Ventures, LLC an early stage incubator. He was previously a
principal in Broadband Enterprises dividing his time between seed stage
company investigations and working with private company clients including
California Eastern Labs. Bill has a BSEE from UC Davis and an MSEE from UC
Berkeley, both with high honors. Mr. Kunz started his career in 1979 on the
Agilent side of Hewlett Packard in Santa Rosa followed by eight years at HP
Labs. He contributed to several product lines including taking the DC- 50 GHz
Sampling Oscilloscope from concept to product. Bill returned to operating
divisions for six additional years working on wireless systems and components.
His final position at HP was LMDS Base Station Program Manager. When this
project was sold to Lucent Technologies in 1998, he joined Wireless, Inc. At
Wireless Bill was responsible for Engineering, NPI and IT. He was also interim
General Manager during the integration of Multi-Point Networks. Wireless was
acquired by Interwave Communications and subsequently IWAV was sold to
Alvarion. His final position was SVP Engineering and CTO.

Carl Showalter is a founding partner of Opus Capital investing in Internet and
data communications startups. Previously, Carl was a General Partner with
Lightspeed Venture Partners. Carl brings more than 12 years of operating
experience to Opus. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Marketing at
Juniper Networks, where he built and led a global marketing and product
management organization. Prior to Juniper, Carl was Vice President of Dial and
Broadband Services for UUNET, overseeing the 300-person, $1B revenue
division. He also held various sales and management positions at ANS, an AOL
company, where he helped build AOL's modem access network and then helped
launch hardware-based firewalls and IP VPNs in the mid 1990's. Carl began his
career at Bellcore, focusing on network security and data service delivery. At
Bellcore, Carl performed logical and physical attacks on phone company
infrastructure, helping them fix these vulnerabilities. Carl holds a BS degree in
Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MS degree in
Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University.

Peter A. Howley is a serial entrepreneur with unprecedented experience in
building high growth disruptive service companies in the telecom sector. Mr.
Howley has been involved in starting, building, advising, mentoring, financing
and leading service companies. As Chairman of The Howley Management
Group he works closely with Entrepreneurs, CEO’s and Boards to turn great
ideas in to great businesses. His career in Telecom began at AT&T serving in a
number of managerial positions. In 1973, he was recruited into a start-up MCI
where in addition to critical regulatory and policy work, he launched their initial
service in New York City and then Los Angeles. Mr. Howley next led Citizens
Utilities Company’s very high growth Arizona Telephone Operations as General
Manager and Vice President. Citizens Utilities has the distinction of increasing
earnings every quarter for fifty five years. Mr. Howley has the distinction of leading
his first venture backed company from start up through successful IPO and
acquisition into the pages of American business history as CEO of Centex
Telemanagement (Nasdeq: CNTX). It was recognized as one of the fastest
growing, best managed, most profitable companies in America by publications
including Business Week, Fortune, Equities, and INC Magazines. It retains a cult
status in the service industry. At Centex in 1985 Mr. Howley created the
Telemanagement concept for small and medium-sized companies. He built the
company into the world’s leading telecommunications management services
company. This included its sale at a sizable premium. The company was
highlighted in three books including Dr. Spechlers’ book Managing Quality in
America’s Most Admired Companies. The Wall Street Journal declared Centex
“the darling of Wall Street.” It continues to be used as a case study at Harvard
Business School among others. Recruited during a presentation of the CNTX
model at Stanford University, Mr. Howley joined the founders of Exodus
Communications, a Global Web Hosting Company, at its inception. He
continued to advise and serve on the post IPO Board (Nasdeq: EXDS) until June
2000. Exodus still holds a NASDAQ record for 13 consecutive quarters of greater
than 40% revenue growth. One out of every three to four Internet crossing
packets traversed the Exodus network at its peak. As Co-founder of IPWireless in
1999 and initial CEO, Mr. Howley enthusiastically led the company in developing
the world’s leading, cost effective, wireless mobile broadband technology. His
personal fundraising efforts raised more than $120 million. His leadership as an
active investor and board advisor has been instrumental in the company’s
successful acquisition in May, 2007 by NextWave (Nasdeq: WAVE ). In addition to
founding five companies, Mr. Howley has also advised, served on the board and
as interim CEO in numerous companies looking to accelerate their success. He
has published articles, spoken frequently to a wide array of audiences on
industry topics, and been quoted extensively in publications including USA
Today, the Wall Street Journal and Fortune Magazine. Mr. Howley is a Charter
Member of the Washington DC based American Business Conference
Foundation and Board Director of The Independent Institute, an influential and
non-political scholarly research and educational organization which sponsor
comprehensive studies on political economy. He graduated from New York
University with an Industrial Engineering degree, served two military tours and
was awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal for Outstanding Achievement.
Mr. Howley acquired an MBA degree in Marketing from NYU. His thesis was on
the viability of tele-purchasing using the “Picture Phone”, a theory thoroughly
proven in today’s PC-Internet e-commerce world. He continues to be involved
with the NYU Stern School of Business, serving as speaker, business plan
judge and mentor.

Scott C. Smith's practice emphasizes corporate, tax and real estate law. Scott
has significant experience counseling corporations, partnerships, limited liability
companies and nonprofits in connection with all aspects of operations. He
works with private and public companies on equity financings, debt transactions,
securities matters, mergers and acquisitions and general business matters.
Scott also represents emerging companies in connection with entity formation
issues, licensing and other technology related matters. He works with venture
capital firms in connection with fund formations and equity investments, as well
as large institutional investors in connection with their investment activities. Scott
regularly advises clients regarding federal and state tax matters and his work
often involves a complex tax planning component. Scott is professional
association include the Bar Association of San Francisco California State Bar
Partnerships & Limited Liability Companies Committee, Member (2002-present)
Association For Corporate Growth (2006) Keiretsu Forum (2005); Investors
Circle (2006).  He is also on the Advisory Board Member of MicroMentor. Scott
received his LL.M; J.D. from the University of Houston, M.A., International
Relations from the University of Southern California and his B.A., from the
California State University, Fresno.
